Well, mine is not as old as yours. I would like to get a double ring now. I got my first Damaskeene SE razor a couple of months ago. It is a fine shaver. I think it is probably the best of the shaver of the GEMs that I have used. http://jrshaving.blogspot.com/2017/03/gem-damaskeene-razor.html
April 4th. Shave #1 Got my shave on this morning. Be at work for 4am. It was a good one.... Have a great day and shave today Gents..... Razor: Rockwell 6s Blade: Voshkod Teflon Brush: Zenith Silvertip Soap: WSP Formula T BlackBeard W/H: Thayers Medicated Balm: Nivea sensitive A/S Splash: Vintage English Leather (Felt going Old School today) Plus, the Lady of the house likes the Vintage scents, takes a whiff and says "Got a Man on my hands" I always say, "Yes you do my Love, Yes you do".....
Well, as I said, the Wilkinson 'sticky' loves the Nacet blade but, in the interest of ABG, I'm loading up a Lab Blue for tomorrow's shave. Don't like the Murdock brush at all: hard work to raise a lather then it doesn't want to let it go. Back to the Plisson for tomorrow, see what it's like with the Barbiere di Figaro Classico.
Tuesday's "Anything But Gillette" DE Shave Dove Men Face Wash Mitchell's Wool Fat Jayaruh TSD Challenge Boar Edwin Jagger Faux Ebony Asco Super Stainless CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayer's Lemon WH Florida Water The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh TSD Challenge Boar brush. I did two passes the Edwin Jagger Faux Ebony razor and Asco Super Stainless blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Wednesday will be day five with the Merkur loaded with a NOS Schick DE blade. I'll be travelling for the rest of the week and will likely make this my travel set up.
I am a bit late posting. This was my Monday evening shave. I broke out one of my German (I think) 4 piece travel razors with a VDH blade that had a few shaves on it. A generic (Turkish maybe) boar did a good job with the Barbershop Luxury soap. After my Witch Hazel clean up pass a splish of Krampert's Finest Frostbite AS cooled it all down. Very enjoyable shave.

April 5th Shave #2 Another good shave today...... Forgot about the Option 5 razor. Nice and smooth.... Razor: Option 5 Blade: Shark Super Brush: Vie-Long Horse "Carrucho" Soap: Stirling Spice W/H: Thayers Medicated A/S Balm: Nivea Sensitive Have a great day and shave Gents....
Yes, it's different. But shaves very well actually. Feels like a 2-2.5 on a Futur or a 7 on a Gillette Slim... To me at least.
When I returned to wet shaving, I boutht an EJ 89. I later got the Merkur 37c slant. Then I went crazy with vintage razors that I love.
Yes, it's a very good razor and well made. Haven't had any issues with the spring push button mechanism that unlocks the top cap, it's held up well. The looks are either love/hate kind of thing. But it holds well in the hands, and blade changes are simple. Plus, it's the only DE I have that the Lady of the house will actually use. I don't use it much, but once in awhile I'll take it for a shave.....
