I've got a machine shop at the plant where I could cut down the height if I can just find and get my hands on the right shell casing. Any and all ideas from fellow enablers are welcome. Maybe a realoader or black ops mercenary in the group?
Go check out a surplus store or a gunshow. They usually have dummy rounds. I don't see why you couldn't cut down the casing to make it more manageable. Alternatively, you could find something like a ferrule to mount the knot and then stack a bunch of casings together and then figure out a way to mate it. So your handle might have say four or five .223 casings, but that would actually allow you a better grip Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
A Christmas present from Herself. It was the after shave of choice prior to my, erhm, conversion to Aramis.
Razor: Timeless SB w/ TRH5 Dimpled Blade: Personna Star (1) Made in Great Britain Brush: El Druida Ebony Zebra w/Manchurian Soap: Route 66 Cavendish Aftershave: Floid Blue Very good shave. I will need a few shaves to get a better feel for this blade. If anyone has any information on this blade please post it. I can't find anything about it.
That brush is stunning. Is it new? I don't recall seeing it in the past. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good eye Clint. I ordered it in 2016 November. It came with 2 other brushes which I wanted to use first. This will be my first week use it.

When you get into that size, you're going to have a large handle. If that is your thing, then you could really do anything. I would probably start with the knot you want, and then figure out how to build around it. And as cool as it might be, I wouldn't limit yourself to one piece of brass. And for you soviet lovers, you could use some steel 7.62 Soviet casings.
Tonight's shave... Well it is the start of a new week, but I forgot to rotate out the soap. So tonight was the last night for Stirling's Pharaoh's Dreamsicle. Schick E3 Injector with Blade.......... Check Excessive amounts of lather...............Check Mostly quiet alum...............................Check Too many nicks..................................Check One weeper that wouldn't go away....Check Witch Hazel to the rescue..................Check A solid C because I got three nicks/minor weepers on the first pass, and one that wouldn't go away. But I got two good passes, and the witch hazel did its magic on the cleanup. And the alum was mostly quiet except for one spot on my neck which sang like a canary, but quieted quickly.
I'm percolating on this one. It may require a trip to a gun show with a caliper to find a WWII surplus piece or something. I'll have to think on it a bit. I've got 7.62's, but I like the idea of cutting down a big casing...
If you can make your own knot, you could probably make a novelty brush out of like a .50 AE, perfect for traveling.... though I wouldn't fly with it.
