Was at CVS pharmacy today and talked to a young fellow there that was stocking the shelves in the shaving stuff. Told him I was looking for double edge blades for a Gillette slimline adjustable I was getting. He said they didn't have the double edge blades in stock and said he had heard about the Gillette double edge razors, he said " I heard they were good razors back in the day" I smiled, thanked him and left feeling very old. I haven't reached retirement age yet, am I good for a few more years of shaving ?
At least you didn't forget your name. It is Bob, right? Now I'm feeling old. In my birth year Gillette only made open comb razors. Len
You could have told him that they're still excellent razors. But it would have been lost on most modern kids. I bought both of my sons Gillette black handle super speed razors to shave with, when they get old enough.
We've reached the point where Trac II and Atra cartridges are back-in-the-day type products. It's amazing how old I can feel at just 54.
I considered getting a TracII, but I don't really need another cartridge razor. I have an Atra, 3 Sensors, 2 Mach IIIs, and a FUsion. Plus a Headblade. Great little headshaver. Just be sure to keep the wheels in contact with yer scalp at all times. If not, it'll bite ya. Maybe I'll buy a Trac II "for my wife". She can use it, and I can use it. Plus, carts are cheap.
Show a double edge to my son's teacher and he didn't know what it was. He is 35 and it was a mystery to him.
I bet he'd really be a lost ball in high weeds if you showed him an old Gem SE, or maybe an Autostrop.
