My lovely bride went to Italy for two weeks to attend her cousin's wedding. She asked what I would like for her to bring me back. I asked for a shave soap that might not be widely available here in the US. So with her cousin's help, she found me Barberia Toscana's Sapone Da Barba. It comes in a very nice metal tin. Upon opening, the scent is what I would categorize as "sporty", if that makes any sense to you. This is a hard soap. The product takes up most of the container. However, there is a little room to add water. According to the packaging, the soap is enriched with olive oil from Palazzo Massaini. I did a little Google-fu and discovered that Palazzo Massaini is located in Tuscany near Pienza. It is known for its Chianti and olive oil. Using my Rubberset 303, after a short blooming, 90 seconds on the soap and another 90 in the Old Spice mug produced a slick cushiony lather. My SA-109 with a Voskhod aboard slid over my face and delivered a near BBS shave. Post shave feel was very soft and after splashing on some Cella A/S my face felt very moisturized. The post feel was on par with MWF or Route 66. Overall, a keeper. Have a great shave, have a great day.
Second shave with the Barberia Toscana this morning. Really lathers easy and the scent on second use seems like it will match a couple of my after shaves.
