I am searching for a good Bay Rum aftershave. I need a recommendation on the top five Bay Rum after shaves. Recommendation Categories: Scent Strength - 8 to 10 How long scent last - 8 to 10 Lubricants - 8 to 10 I would like to save time and money by not puchasing 20 different brands of aftershave.
You might browse thru these old threads, then come up with a few for comparison recommendations. There are a lot of opinions on bay rums. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/bay-rum-recommendations.52829/ http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/kramperts-bay-rum-aftershave.50133/ http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/bay-rum-aftershaves.9661/ http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/bay-rum-recommendations.32566/
Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum. The granddaddy of 'em all. I'm sure I'll get some pushback from my fellow denizens. But that's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.
It's been a long time since I tried VIBR, but I thought the clove was a bit overpowering. I liked Master's better, but the scent strength and duration are a bit light.
I like the scent of the clubman but damn it burns my face! My face is on fire for awhile after I put some on. I originally bought some and traded it away. lol I forgot how it performed and bought some more.. lol and now I'm right back where I started. Loving the scent but hating the whole lava burn feel!
So I'll add a couple, as one of those threads @Erik Redd mentioned was mine. I got Mountain Mike Bay Rum because of that thread. It is definitely different than any other Bay Rum I have tried, and it is heavy on the Rum. It smells very nice, but doesn't last too long in my opinion. One of my other favorites is Stirling Bay Rum. I actually wore it this morning, and I took the kids to school. After about 10 minutes in the car, my middle daughter told me that my aftershave was smelling up the whole car and it smelled good. My other two quickly agreed. My whole family seems to like it, as do I.
Wow keep them coming........ Have any of you used Gabels Bay Rum aftershave...? If so, drop some knowledge on it...... (Your Opinion)
I hate to tell you this, but all of your categories are very variable between faces. What might do well on my face, you might absolutely hate. While reviews can help, the only way to know if a product works for you is to try it. Which although it takes time and cost a little money, it is part of the fun. So far I've used: Clubman Virgin Island Stephans Master I like them all, but probably Clubman the best so far. My cheapness keeps me from buying the more expensive brands.
Ogallala. It burns if you don't shake it and the scent doesn't overpower with longevity, but man I like the stuff.
