Complicated. Depends on why.

 

I'd say that Ronin would probably be closer to Black Knight. (Knight who has no sponsor to pay to keep his armour polished/enameled, so paints it black for ease of care)

 

Mercenary Ronin were considered lower than prostitutes, and were scalawags in every way.

If a master was killed or died, a Samurai could still honorably wear the two swords as a Ronin.

 

What about scruffy nerf hearders?
