What to do with the used blades... I've seen the commercial blade banks, but it just seems silly to spend money on something like that. Right now i'm tossing my used blades into old medicine bottles. With all the inventive ideas i've seen around here, i'm curious what the rest of you do.
I saw someone use a empty water bottle. They left the cap on and put a slit in the side, when it was full, they just tossed it. I think they just keep it under the sink. Susie
Take one steel can, maybe one that has tomato soup or broth. Use a "church key" type opener to get the soup out, so that the lid is still mainly intact. Cut a slot in the top of the intact lid. Drop used blades into can through slot. Once it fills up, recycle the whole thing. Voila!
I simply use the reverse of the blade storage thingy. The brands I use have slots to put the used blades in.
Unfortunately, there are some brands that don't come in a storage thingy. My favorite blades are sharp brand, so i'm kinda left to my imagination. The worst is when i'm away on vacation somewhere. here's no way I can allow myself to just toss them into the trash. Usually I go hunting for a rigid piece of trash to put them inside.
I sent Issy an empty milk bottle. THe old glass style. WHoever is interested, I may be tempted to buy some more liters to get you a bottle.
Yeah good point. I would think a soda can would be rather good for a couple of them. Then when you are done you can simply step on the can (IN SHOES) and flatten it.. thus sealing the blade away from prying people.
I fold the blade a few times in a piece of cardboard, and if i have tape available (I usually have duct tape in my Land Rover ) I'll seal it with tape before disposing of it.
I'm not stepping on a soda can with blades in it. NO MATTER WHAT! A small pill bottle works great, and doesn't take up hardly any room in travel bags.
