I have used 2 blades 1. Gillette Platinum 2. Feather I like them both and don't mind the aggresIve shave. What do you all use? What do you find that works the best for you?
I started with Feathers and then began purchasing every different blade I could find in a quest to find the "ultimate" blade for me. Eventually I ended up with tucks of close to 70 different blades but after many months I tired of the quest and abandoned the spreadsheet that I had created. Along the way I found a few that I really liked and so I bought them in 100 packs. Today I'm still slowly going through all of the various blades and I'm sure I'll purchase a few more in bulk. As it stands, I should run out of blades on or about my 126th birthday (unless I buy more). One thing you'll notice as you start collecting razors and blades is that not every blade brand performs the same in every razor. You may prefer a particular blade in a particular razor but the same blade might not be your favorite in a different razor. The other thing you'll notice is that as your technique gradually becomes more refined, you can return to a blade that you may have initially thought you couldn't get a good shave with but now provides a very good shave. You'll get lots of opinions on blades so I say, "buy 'em and try 'em"
What @wchnu said. For that matter, @John Beeman is actually saying much the same thing -- as technique improves, the difference between blades becomes smaller. With the exception of Chinese brands with words like Tiger in their names, you will probably find you can eventually use any blade and get a passable shave. Personally, I like and have quantities of vintage Gillette Platinum Plus and Schick Plus Platinum, and modern PolSilver, Voskhod, Rockwell, Israeli Personnas and Personna Lab Blues. I also have a few sample tucks of miscellaneous other blades such as Gillette Silver Blues, green and black label Gillette 7 O'clock, Feathers and a couple brands of Lords. They all work fine too.
Blades are not mild or aggressive... http://theshaveden.com/forums/threa...ild-sharp-or-smooth-a-general-overview.37813/
I'm telling the guys(@twhite & @Bird Lives ) across the street that you used a DE blade. I fell so disgraced and cheated on. I need a tub of Ben & Jerry's.
Actually that does not count. Lol. I just like shaving with a mix of razors. I mean heck I got like 140 ish of them.
Over time I have wound up with an assortment of blades. Voskod, Rapira, 7 O'clock , Wilkinson, feather are some of the small packs. I have a bunch of polsilver, astra, derby, and all these blades work fine for me. Polsilver SI's are a favorite. The only blade I don't like are those Merkur blades that you get with a new razor. Crap for sure.
