New to the forum and DE shaving- just picked up this vintage Gilette on EBay ($12) and wondered if anyone could ID? Do not have the serial number yet but thinking 50's/60's?

    That's a superspeed, probably 40s.

If it does not have the date code, it is a 1946-1950. It can be narrowed down further by the center bar. they started notching it in 1948.

If there is a date code, it will fall between 1951-1954. These are great shavers. I have one in my regular rotation.

It looks just like mine and according to my grandfather he purchased it in 1950.

Some 1950 Gillettes will have a date code as well which would be "V" which started up as shown with this razor. Even though they are rare, there are some with date codes.

Those earlier Super Speeds are great shaving razors. Clean it up and enjoy it; great for new DE's shavers.
BTW, welcome to the Shave Den!

Is this also a '48-50 SS? Trying my hand at identifying a cheap restore project I'm high bidder on currently.
