To make a long story short I was able to acquire a 1959 Fatboy with case for 20 bux. I still need to clean it along with the case and post pictures but I am ecstatic. Pictures to come soon.
Well here are the "Before" Pics. I will post the "Afters" later, after it has been cleaned, scrubbed down and polished.
If you want the story, I went to a tag sale in town yesterday, 5 minutes from my house. It was an elderly couple and I asked the husband if he had any Safety Razors. No was his reply but he said his son might. Well I went back today and honestly was trying not to get my hopes up, I was hoping for a fatboy and lo and behold! He said his son was getting ready to sell it online. , Persistence pays.
Mark, is this one your first model 195? Even if it isn't, what a great deal on a very nice razor! If you find it not to your liking, know that these cased fat boys tend to fly off the online auction listings for approximately 6-7x what you've invested.
I know they fetch a kings ransom online. I cleaned it up, polished it and repainted the numbers and black band. One small spot of brassing is on the inside corner of one of the doors. but other than that it is flawless. Btw more pictures.
I'm with you Mark. Ain't it fun? I wasn't sure what all the fuss was about until I got my '58 fat boy. Great score for you!
Great score, Mark! Be warned, if you plan on selling it, do not shave with it, as you will not be able to let it go.
