Okay, not really a restoration, per say. This really old wedge actually was in really good shape, just a little tired looking. The scales were mostly dull and a very little staining on the blade. A small amount of dremel polishing on the blade. The most time was spent buffing the horn scales. My photography isn't that great at showing the results, but quite dull in the first pic. Now they actually look like glass. I used the dremel and blue magic to get the smooth and shiny, a couple coats of wax really brought them to life.
Looks great, Keith! Those oldies look more natural in their muted grey hues versus gleaming brightly ala' stainless steel blades, IMO. Rugged character befits the raw, simple nature of those early razors. That's a beauty!
Thanks guys. It's a little scary as I'm afraid that I might make it worse or ruin it entirely. IMO this was more of a detail job not a restoration of any kind.
Look for stub tail, wedge, cast Steel and warranted. Don't let the secret out ; they can be had at pretty low cost
