Dear Santa,

For Christmas in July, I REALLY want an EJ DE89 Barley. I'd like to shave with it on my wedding day - I think that would be swell. I'd also like a Vintage Gillette Super Adjustable Balck Beauty DE razor. However, I'm not looking for just any Black Beauty, I'm specifically looking for one coded "B1" as it would be birth year (and quarter) razor.

I've been VERY good this year and if you get me what I want, I promise I will never buy another razor ever again....

PS - I think there is a birds nest in my chimmney, so use the backdoor - the key is in the flower pot. Also, try not to park your reindeer out front, my neighbor is a total hag and will call the police, I hate her. I ran out of milk and cookies, so I left you a shot of tequila and some Doritos. Merry Christmas in July!!

 

I ordered some Rapira Swedish Super Steel blades.

No pics as they are coming from Moscow and will likely take a while to get here.

 

I'm a-thinkin' about a Belgian Blue whetstone. And I'll be in Antwerp (Belgium) this weekend, so...

(I may have to look really nice to my beloved one...)

Brush: Parker deluxe pure badger
Soap: Arko stick and Joshua Tree Bay Rum & Lime
Razor: RazoRock SLAB
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock (black)
Post: Alum, witch hazel
Aftershave: Black Suede
Hair tonic: Pashana eau de Quinine with oil

First shave with the SLAB. As with any new razor I took it easy and had a very gentle four pass shave. Tomorrow I'll go a bit harder and reduce this to three passes. This is a very nice razor.

Funny, but when I have no money I can find all kinds that I would like. When I have cash in hand, nothing really strikes me.
I have $30 from a belated birthday present. If I go new, probably an Omega boar. But I was thinking this morning (it hurt, I won't lie) and remembered an old Ever Ready handle that I bought a couple of years ago with the intent of dropping in a new knot. I see TGN in my future

 

I find myself following eBay watching fat handled Tech razors. I'm trying to convince myself that I need a backup for my everyday Tech....

I got a shipment from the TSD store yesterday, stocking up on Joanna's excellent wheat cream and soap. Choice of scent is easy for me.

 

I just won a lot of 4 vintage brushes, to restore. Pics when they get here.

 

Bought a Coffee and Jasmine shaving soap from Irena (with help from the SO due to my browser apparently needing an exorcism).

EDIT: It's arrived. That was fast.

As a new DE shaver, I have a good excuse to build my inventory. So Santa and I had a chat a few days ago. I am awaiting an Omega boar brush, soap and blade samples from our very own mistress thereof, Pinaud Special Reserve, block o' alum, and a nice bottle for my PSO. If I'm extra special good, Santa may also bring me this.

I won another neat item on the Bay. It is a "Dandy Dan" shave set.

 

The old brushes got here.

The black one is in poor shape, so that one will get used for practicing some techniques. The others will eventually get new knots.
