1-2 passes on my cheeks and I'm good. I'm thinking 2-3 with my neck. When I see I'm having trouble I stop and grab my DE to finish. Haven't really cut myself yet, just a hard nick Under my nose last night. I haven't given up yet, just got a bit frustrated last night.
Sounds like you are doing well. Finishing with an easier system is the right thing to do when you get impatient or frustrated. Better than making mistakes you may regret. Make sure you have your top lip stretched taught before you touch the blade to the skin. You can also try coming in from the side rather than from directly under the nose. Same goes for the chin. Be careful, but remember to have fun. Everyone's face geometry is different. Be patient and you will eventually get it sorted out.
You either need a bigger upper lip or your nose higher up on your face I think I have both, cuz I can get the upper lip with no problem
