Until I felt that I could no longer handle a straight, I shaved with one for a long time. I remember when my wife told me that if she ever saw a cut on me she'd throw it away. The last time I used it was three years ago on a Sunday morning and that was when I announced to her that I was quitting.
I used my money to buy mine. Didn't ask. Didn't hide it either. It took a while for me to get it honed and give it a try. As I was shaving with it, she walked in to see. The only thing she said about it was, "You cut yourself. You're bleeding a little." I asked her if she wanted to try it on her legs. She gave me the stank eye, said "Uh...nope", and walked off. My wife had full faith in my ability to manage an insanely sharp instrument. She had confidence that I knew to angle the blade and not use a slicing motion when I placed it on my neck. And she figured I would start slow and build up to a full shave. Plus...I am well insured.
