I was fortunate enough to win this Craftsman strop in the last TSD Eclipse Raffle. Today, I decided I would try to clean up the hardware on the strop.

Here is what it looked like before cleaning it up.

This is after the clean up.

I put a little hook under my bathroom countertop to hand the strop from.

    That looks really nice!
I have restored the chrome work on a few vintage bikes using aluminum foil and oil, but think that might stain the leather on a strop.

What method did you use to remove the rust?

I just used a buffing wheel on the end of my 1/2 inch drill motor. I have it strapped to a small "horse" I made for the purpose. I got the wheel with buffing compound at Harbor Freight. https://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-buffing-kit-43657.html
