I needed a replacement handle for a Gillette Tech with a cracked ball end handle. Initially I looked at a few on the market but decided (mostly due to cost and weak Cda dollar) against them. I contemplated a few different designs and initially wrote off the large bull dog type handle as I thought them to be overly large, heavy and unbalanced handle to head. My initial thought was to go with a SS handle similar in size to the fat tech. After some consideration I decided why replicate what I already have plenty in the den and decided on a large handle that could be made light. I would have to forgo SS and settle on machine aluminum. Enter my son who works PT at his college machine shop. I sent him some varying picture and thread specs via email and gave him and his young boss leeway to design. To my surprise after dining out with friends Saturday night I arrived home to this completed handle. Will give this to my dad for long term testing to see if it's easier for older hands to hold.
First shave for perspective purposes. Feel like @twhite I have a feeling I'm going to pay for this photo.
Nope i can tell you are much more handsome than i am. Besides i cannot see your nose hairs. The handle is awesome. Your son did a great job on that. You should be very proud of him and your handle. Tom
Thanks Tom, in all fairness I learned from the best on what not to do. Don't despair, I make for a better hand model only.
Awesome handle! Since I've been DE shaving I've been asking around for anyone who has access to a metal lathe with little success.
