Better scales along with fit and finish on the blade is about it. The Conk razor which is the Dovo Best line is their entry level razors and Dovo doesn't always do their best work on those razors. They hold their edge and shave just as well as the more expensive ones they just don't look as pretty.

You also need to read about the blades,,,
Dovo and TI use different steels and processes within their lines, then there can be differences in the grind too, the actual polish on the blade is often different, from a simple frosted satin to a gleaming mirror... Anything that takes more time or seperate processes in the assembly line bring up the cost of the razor..

Well in big, the main difference between let's say my dovo best quality rasor and a dovo that cost 2-300 bucks would be what? Would it be sharper and hold it's edge better? Or is it only the scale and asthetic? I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading to a better rasor, and keep my dovo best quality for honing practice!

I would not have put it quite that way :)

First off the link you provided has Zero infomation about the razor you are looking at, secondly on that link you provided if that razor is even near $200 you are getting robbed

    http://www.straightrazordesigns.com/dovo-straight-razors/professionally-sharpened-dovo-diamant-5-8
and that one is shave ready by Lynn Abrams and you get another free honing

The grind is different and the polish is very different I am still doing the research for you on the steel

I also don't know what type of "Best" that you have, even those can be slightly different as seen here, with just three of them

As you can see from looking close at the shoulders even these three "Best" razors have different grinds,,,

The bottom line is that most every Dovo is going to shave well and hone well unless it has a QC issue but that is really any razor..
Your asking is there diffences, and yes there are, but you have to do the research to find them, most of them however are very small, and don't have a huge effect on the edge as to sharpness, or longevity.. There will be differences to the feel of the shave though..

I hope what I have found so far helps you out

Now if you asked my opinion :) which you didn't hehehe

If I were looking to buy a "New" Dovo which I need like a hole in the head :D

This is the one I would be looking at, I have honed quite a few in the last month and something about them is just really "Right" to my hands and face..

There are several different scale choices out there (which I would probably change to mine anyway :)) but I really like the blades on the Bismarcks :p that is just my personal opinion nothing more..

Well I didnt showed any razors because I was juste talking "in general". I'm not looking into a specific razor, even though the Diamant is really awesome :D But hey, thanks for the infos! That was really appreciated! That bismark right there is really beautifull, even though in general I prefer darker scales :D

A Bismark is on my short list of I wanna's. That pearl would look fantastic if it had some nickel/silver inlays.

    Neolithium I am Canadian, eh

IIRC the current iteration of the Bismarck also has a darker colored option for scales. Too bad Dovo didn't keep the square point :angry019: /end rant
