Does flipping the blade over between shave make any difference?

After a couple of shaves I flip the blade over in my razor to use the other side. With the numbers on the blade it helps me keep track of how many times I have used the blade. But does it really make a difference to the quality of the shave?

If you use only one side of the blade when you shave yes, but if you shave with both sides no

I have a routine of clean, strop, and flip the blade. I don't know if it really makes a difference or not, but it makes me feel good. I toss the blade after 7 shaves unless it starts to tug. I tried an experiment back in September with a Shark Super Chrome blade. I got 19 shaves before I got bored and retired the blade. YMMV. It's your shave, enjoy it your way...

You'll have folks that swear it makes a difference, others that swear the opposite. I'm in the "doesn't matter" camp.

I believe it is a "placebo effect" . I personally doubt it will matter. All you are doing is flipping it over. Think about it this way. Would using a kitchen knife in one hand then switching it to another hand really make a difference?

It's your shave and your ritual, so first and foremost do what you like and what you want.

My take on it is: Blades are meant to be disposable. They're cheap and I don't see any reason to use them more than 3 times before sending them to razor heaven. Blades have changed a lot since the Depression, so I don't see the point of doing any of of the Depression era tricks with them

If you are not careful. Any blade deserves respect.

I remove my blade and clean it after every use. I pay no attention to which direction I replace it in.

    No.
The edge is so fine that you are actually not shaving with a 'side' of the blade but rather that very, very thin edge. Ergo the side the blade faces will not make a difference.
