I purchased one the other day just for kicks. I figured that it would be "cute" for a dollar. Thanks to you guys I am actually going to try to shave with it. It can't be any worse than some of the other razors I have tried. I'm not brave enough to try the blades.
IIRC, you were one of the few brave enough to shave with the Nanjie. Any thoughts about how the two compare?
No. HUF had started a new thread, to which I replied with what you quoted. The mods merged the two threads, thus carrying my reply from that thread into this one.
This razor looks better, and gap wise, more even. The shaves were similar, but while not as smooth as a Flair Tip, it was smoother than the Nanjie. There is more blade exposure, from the aspect of the doors, maybe it's why it wasn't so smooth, just a guess. It seems to be a bit more aggressive and that's why I mentioned that a smoother blade could be better in it.
A big thanks to @jimjo1031 for sending me a new Dollar Tree Pacific DE razor. I am doing adjustables this month, so I am looking forward to putting this razor through the paces in December. I repurposed a wooden box for a case for the Pacific DE
I've checked several Dollar Trees in Houston and haven't seen any as of yet. Lots of crappy 'barbasol' and "Weird Name" brand razors and canned foam. Haven't seen Wit and Wisdom "Shaving Cream" lotion lately either.
Tell them it's haunted and if not kept in the box it will beat you on the head and you can start at $99! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
It can't be the ghost of Elvis. I watched a documentary about him. He's alive and well, living in an East Texas nursing home.
I thought he was working at the McDonalds, or maybe he had to shift to a part time job at Wal-Mart as a greeter.
Dollar Trees near me finally got this in. It is not the same that Big Lots has been carrying, which (if memory serves) is mostly plastic. This one has a nice heft to it--either metal handle or weighted somehow. Feels metal but somehow I doubt the handle is SS. Has five blank blades as well, which come in a tuck individually wrapped in plain bright yellow over wax paper. Packaging is slightly nicer than Big Lots' razor, as you can see...the whole thing is in a rather handsome if minimalist blue with Dollar Tree's Assured logo. Getting hot and the beard is itching, was planning to mow it down to a goatee again...might as well try this out once the Old Type takes of the bulk.
