I gave the razor its first "test drive" today. So firstly, I want to reiterate my thanks to @Zykris for the nifty giftie! Now for my impressions;
I will begin with a description. The razor is heavier than my Gillette SA. (3.4 oz. as compared to 2.2) The lengths of the 2 are identical at 4.25 inches. I like long-handled razors, so this is a plus. The razor opens by snapping the cap off. It snaps off without undue difficulty, but stays put when it should. The dial is continuous, rather than clicking into discrete settings. I like this as well. The handle is kind of smooth. I wish it had more texture to it. (If anyone knows a way to add some texture to a razor handle, please let me know.)

Now for the shave;
I opted to put on some shorts and sit in a chair by the sink. Normally, I shave in the shower, but I wanted to be able to wear my reading glasses, so as to see every detail (also to get some spots I always miss in the shower, where I can't see them). I used my usual pre-shave oil and soap and a Feather blade (the same brand I always use.) I began at setting 1, as I wanted to be cautious with a new razor. That was VERY mild and I needed to turn it up. I went to 2, which was still a bit too mild. Then I got a bit overconfident and went to 3. At 3 I got a very smooth shave, but a couple of nicks and some mild irritation, which passed quickly. My next shave will be at 2.5. I finished with a lotion stick and I feel pretty good right now.

This one is definitely a keeper. Most likely, this one will live in my travel kit, for which I had been wanting an adjustable. Look for a PIF of the Parker I had been using in my travel kit.

Maybe use a shrink wrap tube to put on the handle. It'll add some grip to it.

 

Home improvement store stock Plasti Dip. Usually only in black, but it's available in colors, too.

 

A little update- it was time to do my legs again. This time, I shaved in the shower, as I usually do. With the razor set to 2.5, I got a LLS (lady-leg smooth) shave with no nicks or irritation. Still deciding on my grip-improvement method. I have an idea I will try later today. More on that if it works.
