if you have to pick one for travelling which prefers an electric shaver or a manual razor? I think electric shaver is a better option because I will not have to cry other shaving products.

    Let me know your recommendations

Electric has either a rotary head plate or a screen. Can never cut any closer than the thickness of those above the skin.

If you want a complete job and run the possibility of skipping a day, manual is better. I would even go so far as to say a cartridge is better than an electric but, now, I prefer Double Edge razors.

If you are checking in a bag, there is no issue bringing DE blades in the check in bag. If you are doing carry one, a cartridge will do or you can buy blades locally or mail them to your hotel ahead of time.

Never have cared for electric, too much pulling. Not comfortable at all.

Electric always irritated my skin and I had a 5 o'clock shadow well before 5 o'clock. Plus, when traveling you may have to worry about voltage conversion.

I'll never touch an electric razor again as long as I live. I'd rather have a beard down to the floor.

New fangled contraptions, and after a while you still have to change the blades. Or so I heard. I much prefer my manually operated system. Sometimes I'll break out the Stahly if I want a vibration shave. [IMG]

You should really identify what kind of traveling. Weeks, a weekend? Car, Rail, or Plane? Obviously if you're driving space shouldn't be an issue, and packing blades isn't a big deal. Flying can be a bit more of a hassle, as if you want blades you'll need to check them or mail them. Still not a huge deal. You don't really need to bring a lot either. Razor/Blade, Brush, and Soap. I used one of those styrofoam cups in the hotel room to soak my travel brush and face lathered. Worked wonders. A good case for your razor and you're good to go.

All that said, I have thrown my electric in every now and then. It does a crap job, but at least makes me look clean shaven, and I can avoid multiple days of stubble (2 is my limit, otherwise i start to feel like a hippy).

Or better yet, an ungrounded plug into a 110v light socket!

^ the Lek-tro-shave. Takes a DE blade and has a vibrating mechanism in the handle. Patented in 1913.

You know I shake bad enough with my essential tremor. I don't need my razor to vibrate also. My wife took out another life insurance policy on me when I told her I wanted to start shaving with a straight razor.

Since my Dad's dementia condition has deteriorated he has to use an electric. He doesn't like it but he's afraid to make a mistake with a bladed razor. :( :( I had tears in my eyes when I looked at him the other day and saw a lot of stubble on his face that a DE would have cleaned up.
