This is my set up for Monday, the 100th birthday of the Ever-Ready March 24, 1914 Patent. Break out your ERs and join me.
Here's mine: Razor: the birthday boy. Blade: Personna carbon steel SE Prep: Dr. Bronner's liquid soap, almond, plus jojoba oil; hot towel Brush: Vintage Blades Finest 22mm Soap: Stirling Coniferous Aftershave: Captain's Choice Bay Rum The old man has still got it, giving me a very nearly BBS shave, except for a little missed spot on my left jaw line. And that was operator error.
This was actually my second shave with the ER14. My first was back in November when I first got it. It was a successful shave back then, but I felt that it took too much attention to get a good shave, so I put it in the display case. Today, I had a great shave. I think it will be my March 24 razor , of choice. There are too many other good razors waiting for great shaves. It is cool, though, to shave with a 100 year old razor (I know, it is just the patent date).
HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY to one of the greatest ever!!!!!! March 24th 2014 Arko Shave Stick Omega 10029 The 100 year old birthday baby, the Little Lather Catcher GEM SS Coated d1 Turkish Selin Limon Colonia Fantastic BBS of the highest order! This razor is everything its cracked up to be! Here's mine:
For my 1914 birthday shave this morning I used a mix of old and new, an early 1914 with the round knurled handle loaded with a PTFE coated stainless blade. New Williams soap and an old Ever-Ready 300 brush that I restored with a modern TGN synthetic knot followed up with late 50's era Old Spice cologne. It was a nice party with a mix of old and new!
