It's been a while since I have offered my free honing services. I will step it up to three different members. I will choose three razors, only one per member. A member can submit two, but only one can be chosen. If all criteria is met, then razors will be chosen via random generator on Sun, Oct 1st, around 6PM., or so. 1. Photos must be submitted on this thread. Decent quality shots of both sides. 2. Razor must not have rust on the blade, nicks or chips on the edge, or be overly worn out. 3. No Pakistani razors, period. 4. The razors shouldn't need modifications to the blade, to hone. 5. CONUS only, unless you are willing to pay for the return postage. 6. Member doesn't have the setup to hone his/her own blade. 7. Member must have been a member at "The Shave Den", for at le a st 3 months, from today. 8. If you have had a razor honed by me, in a contest before, you are out. Sorry, just trying to help as many as possible. I think that just about covers it. If not, I will add to the list. Good luck. 1. @Jayaruh - Joseph Elliot 2. @Stu929 - Unknown which razor. 3. @PatrickA51 - For a giveaway, to a deserving member. 4. @Stu929 - For a Giveaway, to a deserving member. Dubl Duck
@DaltonGang honed a problem child razor for me, I tried and tried but could not fix this blade but Scott put an amazing edge on it. I high recommed taking this generous offer if you have a razor in need of fine edge.
@DaltonGang honed this razor to perfection for me the last time around! Your razor is going to be in skilled hands. His example has pushed me to pick up my own stones. Thanks again buddy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here is my submission. I've come across a handful recently but I think this may be the only one that will work as all have some rust except this one. Thanks for the great offer!
Thanks! Hoping to use it at some point. My only current shaver is a freshly honed Frederick Reynolds I picked up and sent off. Do a lot of flea mrk hunting and have gotten lucky finding some old stuff. Just don't have the coin to restore them! If either of the below will work I'd like to make it my second entry. Bengall on the top or Joseph Rodgers on the bottom. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I am not entering, just curious. But would one of those Gold Dollar razors count? I purchased one a few years ago with the intent of trying to learn how to sharpen and hone a straight, but never got around to actually do something about it.
A Rolls Blade is a FULL HOLLOW GRIND...With a Sorta Heavy Wedge Design..But..Its NOT a Wedge..Its a Full Hollow Grind..With the Exception of them being Badly Chipped or Hone Wear on the Spine they Hone Up Very Easy..The Grinds are 1st Class from the Factory & a Bevel Should be Re Set in the Matter of a Handful of Minutes at Most.. One Layer of Tape..No Different from an SR & Easier to Hone than Most..Trust Me.. Billy..
As long as the blade stabilizer doesn't need modifying. If you modify it yourself, before taking pictures, it's fine. Almost all Gold Dollar 66 and 100 razors need this modification.
The W.H.Morley is good to go. The Joseph Rodgers would be even better, if you just do some light sanding before the deadline. The Bengall is a little worn on the spine, for this contest. I would really like to see that Joseph Rodgers cleaned up, so it can be put in the hat.
I'll get it cleaned up. If I wasn't afriad of breaking them I'd take the scales off to make it easier. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Thanks, I was mostly just curious. I guess I just asked the question to see if a Gold Dollar razor would be good enough to work with. Living on the right side of the Atlantic would make shipping it to CONUS cost more than the whole razor is worth
Sometimes things in life aren't all about cost, they are about relaxing and enjoying something. Just look at a lot of these guys razor collections. (Please don't look at mine, I'm a cheapskate).
