Though it be a cool idea to do a side by side comparison of the two, since I have both at this time. Obviously one is gold, while the other nickel plate. On the adjustment nut, the positioned on the fat boy is red anodized looking, while on the executive it is black. The heads of the razors seem to be exactly the same. The knurling on the handle of the fat boy is a diamond shave, while the other is straight lines. The executive handle is also shorter.
Haven't used them. I just buy and sell them honestly. I was using my gems and straights all the time, until I bought my parker srw anyway. Now it's my go to razor!
Neither did I. I'm surprised to learn of a FB that has the knurling of a Slim but there it is. That's make a great set with the gold Slim (which I think was also called Executive?)
The Gold Slims were Aristocrats, first available in 1961 I think. The Executive is a Gold Fat Boy, mine is a D3, 1958.
Nice pics! I also have a D3 Gold Exec and a D4 Fat Boy that I had replated by Razor Emporium. Thanks for the comparison between the two. I had not even looked.
I did that bright nickel one. The fat boy in the first pictures is the one I have now. I'm debating on doing the handle of it in brick nickel, but its in great condition now. Hard choice.
That replated FB looks really good. I wish I had a case for mine. It really finishes it off! The other one you have now looks really good as it is. Unless you just want a new looking razor for your collection (which I did) you certainly don't need to do anything to it.
Nice razors. I've got a '58 Executive at Razor Plate right now being replated! Still need a Fat Boy to match.
