I just received my first injector it is a Schick eversharp that i won on ebay for $8 shipped. The razor is in amazing shape. I also purchased 25 Personna 74 tungsten injector blades. I did my normal prep shower then preshave oil to my one day beard. Lathered up with my semogue 620 and man cave soapworks shave soap. I was very surprised how smooth of a shave i received. I first did WTG then XTG, finished ATG and a BBS was the result with no weepers or irritation at all. Very pleased as my normal razor is a futur with voskhod bladed. the injector was fail proof which will make it a great go to when i am in a hurry.
Congratulations. You may also want to post pictures here and ... http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/injector-se-party.23113/
Judging from the description, I have the same one as you. I love that thing and I might just have to dig it out.
Nice find. I have difficulty going to an injector because for me its one step closer to going back to the old way I shaved with the Mach III's and disposable for 40 years. Keep in mind that this is just my headtrip. I figure once I can master my DE's and then my straight razor that I reluctantly sliced upon my earlobe with then maybe I will have more confidence to get closer to the injector. As for you, I am happy you found a razor that kicks butt!
I've heard people say this before....I need someone to explain it to me as even using my wildest imagination I don't get it...Col Schick patented the Injector in 1931..When He first started having the repeaters made he had the Injector already designed...My Dad was issued an Injector in the Navy during WWII....That right there gives us the romantic WWII shaving scenario....all the cats in Pearl Harber using injectors etc. I know the design was so far ahead of its time...and I know they make it really easy to get great shaves....But what does that have to do with the Mach 3 making it really easy to not get a good shave 62 years later?...as the Mach 3 wasn't introduced til 1993...... Is it because there is plastic in the handle?...Is using an 80 year old designed single edge razor that shaves as close as a straight razor...just not one of the coolest things ever?? I think Col Schick was a genius... so far ahead of his time, that his razors are still ahead of this time.... Now if someone likes the Mach 3 better than all our DE's and SE's put together....I understand....But how does using a Schick Injector not make it because its so much like a Mach 3 ?? Inquiring mind wants to know..... BTW...I'm not picking on you, Turk...I can dig where you want to get your DE and Straight 8 technique together.....But I've read many times over the years, where cats thought Injectors were like Cartridge razors and I always wondered what it meant....
Glad to hear you like the injector, I like mine (I just dont use it as much as I should) but its great
I had a similar"Wow!" kind of reaction when I recently started using a Schick injector. I enjoy shaving with it, and it is simpler to use than a DE. I'm not getting rid of my other razors -- I used my EJ DE89 the past two days and got excellent results, with a bit more concentration required than with the injector, however. I am glad that I can have FUN and VARIETY in my daily shaves!
The first cartridge, the Trac II is a direct descendant of the injector and it shaves the most like an injector of any of the cartridge razors. However, it is not nearly as good as an injector. Trac II Injector Gillette had an injector out in the early 1970 and clearly took angle measurements and handle type, to create what was to become for all intensive purposes the DE and Injector killer for the mass market the Trac II.
Here's my 1975 Gillette injector on the left, and 1980 Trac II on the right. If you try real hard and look at them just right you can see maybe just a little resemblance.
I can understand a similarity with the appearance of the Schick 'L' type and especially the Gillette injector and the Trac II....Obviously Gillette used their injector handle as a model for their upcoming Trac II... But I have a very hard time seeing similarities with comparing the Trac II and the Mach 3, much less the Schick Injector and the Mach 3.. I can see a comparison between the Trac II and the Atra...but not between the Trac II and Mach 3....Two completly different animals...and I much prefer the Trac II to the Mach 3....and of course the Injector to both... I hear a ton of cats saying the Injectors are the closest to the Mach 3....I don't see it...Apples and Space Shuttles...lol....Maybe its because they both have plastic handles.....but then so does a Glock and it doesn't remind me of using a Mach 3....
Glad you enjoyed the Schick! It's a great performer. I've always gotten great shaves with it. It is a wee bit light to my taste, though. I like a bit more weight in my razors.
