I have bought 2 Institut Karite at a bargain 5.50 euros reduced from the stores 7.95 euros, and a Durance en Provence L'Ome for 8.95 euros.
I was quite happy with my purchase then I looked at the Durance website and the soap is only 4.70, so I had thought well I did't get a discount after all but never mind . I have just looked at the Institut Karite website and the webshop price is 13.50  that makes it more expensive than Gold Dachs.

Well I intend to try every French soap so only Joris, Plisson (both UK Made), Roger & Gallet, Creed, Pre de Provence, L'Occitane, Lothantique, Martin de Candre, unknown others to go :D.

Maybe give Eshave a miss :ashamed001.

Wait till you see how much shipping is.

    You forgot Provence Sante.
Joris and Plisson are the same, and R&G is discontinued so it may be hard to find.

Martin de Candre is the most known,....expensive but nobody says nothing bad about it
Roger et Gallet : a regular soap.
Plisson+Maison du Barbier+Joris: They made their soap in England, and is the same soap

La cigale, an interesting french soap, 100% natural ingredients, no parabens,.....It requires a little effort with the brush to lather, but it's a quality soap, and the price is less than 3€

The frenchmen are surprised with the success of l'Occitane, it's not a top quality products brand as Martin de Candre or Plisson, l'Occitane have got good products as the soap and the ASB, mediocre products as the SC, and souvenirs de provence as the key....it´s a French "Crabtree&Evelyn"....but the products of l'Occitane had parabens among their components, in France this is a big Fail in order to sell quality cosmetics

Institut Karité has an excellent Shave soap, and is not as expensive as MdC.
Monsavon, it´s not a good soap, only a cheap soap
R&G, you have better choices for the money (l'Occitane, Karité, MdC, ....)

Are Plisson, Joris, Maison du Barbier the same? I have looked on the forum here and the other place and an equal number of people were sure they are not the same?

Yes, they are the same, the soap is made in England by the same company, the brushes of Joris and Maison du barbier are supplied by plisson,....

I will give a plug to PreDeProvence which is very nice. I had Joris but wasnt crazy about the floral scent. Still was a good soap. The French definetely know what they are doing:)

I habe been surfing, but nothing is wrote in french about "pre de provence", maybe it´s only a brand, they have no "provençal" products:

savon de Marseille, savon d'Alep, ...parfums de lavande, vetyver, rose,......¿pineapple soap? It must be the one and only pineaple soap in France :happy102

I am not sure about the frenchish of Pré de Provence, they are unknown in France, maybe only a brand in the USA that import unbranded products from France, but it´s not a french company,.....the french are very proud of their cosmetic products, and always write the labels in french language "fabriqué en France" and also the postal address and `phone of the company (its a duty in the European community)

the kit soap+brush of plisson is 49,9 euros, and if the brand is Maison du barbier it costs 20 euros (an special offer at the Auchan supermarket), the products of the kit are the same, only the colors of the handle are different. It's marketing there have to be the popular product and the exclusive product, different

    Kit of Maison du barbier
