    I haven't posted here in a while but I just made a score of a very rare razor. A Gillette 195 NDC 1-5 Bottom Dial. It is my understanding that there are only five known to exist. I just won it last night on ebay and will receive it soon as it has shipped to me. I would have wished for one in better condition but beggars can't be choosers.

    I am going to wait to see it to see if and how much restoration I am going to do to it. It is going in a case and will stay dry after I restore it. My favorite shaver is an iKon DLC Slant. I get a practically BBS-/DFS+ everytime I use my slant so I am set for a shaver.

    It can probably use a good soak. And I'm still deciding whether or not to repaint it. Definitely polish.

    It definitely needs to be cleaned up. The numbers repainted. Please come back and post when it's done. :happy088:

    I'm not up on the history of these. Were they ever marketed? Prototypes?

    Nevertheless, an amazing find - not everyday you see a razor like that.

    Early prototypes that Gillette put out then realized they were more costly to produce than having the gap controlling knob at the top of the razor.

    @GlennConti Nice score.

    Very rare indeed. These were the early prototypes with the adjustor going only from 1 to 5. The head is the same as the toggle which also had an early prototype that adjusted from 1 to 5. The later toggle kept the same head design and adjusted from 1-9, while the Fat Boy changed to a different head design which is shared by the Slim. Very nice Glenn! You going to make it your daily razor?

    That is an extremely rare find. Clean it up and put it back on E-bay for $4,000 minimum, I will bet it sells.

    Wow- big bucks but great score. If I spent $2600 on a razor I think I would have to live in my car (after the wife threw me out...lol)

    A friend of mine (Chris AKA Captain Murphy) used his considerable skills and restored my razor for me. Here it is:
