Does anyone know a source that clearly explains the Gillette Date coding? I just purchased a B4 Superspeed. What do the B and the 4 refer to? Just curious
Check your date codes here. A B4 would have been manufactured in the 4th quarter of 1956, or possibly 1981 -- if it is a black handle.
a couple of sites have the info you are looking for here is one http://www.geocities.com/safetyrazors/gil_ser2.htm the B refers to the year 1956 and the 4 is for the quarter it was made.
The numbers refer to the quarter of manufacture: 1: January, February, March 2: April, May, June 3: July, August, September 4: October, November, December So as an example, a D4 Flairtip Super Speed would have been manufactured in 1958 in the fourth quarter, sometime in October, November, or December.
