    Dear friends,
The Gillette old I had on display as a razor of a bygone era never to return, was the razor that convinced me to change from carts to DE shaving. It is an aggressive razor though and I want to know if the OC Gillette new is any milder as I might consider buying one in honor of the old one that showed e the light.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

    Yes, the NEW is milder.
I still get very good shaves from it.

How does it compare with the old? Is it smoother? That would make i my fave along with the Rockwell on plate 6.

It is a smooth shave. But much milder to me. Both the long and short comb.

The new is milder. I personally like the short-comb vs the long-comb. I also have a flat bottom new which is even milder.

I'm convinced, none on e-bay. Where can I get a new?

I just posted a Good Will on BST if that's of interest.

The NEWs are milder. The Old Type though, can be tamed by riding the cap a bit. They were designed for a much thicker blade than modern blades. Just adjust your angle a bit by raising the handle so the cap is more engaged, and the shave will be much milder.
