Tallow & Steel's new soap base and scent line is expensive, chock full of essential oils and has an updated soap base. they sound wonderfully complex and wonderful. got to smell those if they have them

Also, after my experience with Chiseled Face Summer Storm, I will also be investigating them as well.

While I agree smell/scent plays a huge part in making the shave experience pleasurable, smell doesn't shave the face. :)

agreed but I think from the reviews I have read and my own experiences, S&T is one I feel performs well and should be tried.

The list I have, they all perform well. Scent might be the deciding factor in which I purchase.

It is a basic requirement to perform well otherwise, why look at them at all. That's how I feel.

Thank you though for the comment and I couldn't agree more.

Also, that is why I reached out to everyone here. I have only tried so many and you can only get so much from a review. Sometimes having someone to converse with about a soap might help.

thanks to all who post here.

    All comments are appreciated.

I found a little video tour. Warning. If you are prone to motion sickness keep your thumb on the stop button. He tends to bounce around a lot.

Too many great choices. If I found myself at the entrance someday, I'd get a Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber. I'd follow that up with WSP's Joe's Distinguished Gentleman(if they have the latter).

    Thanks for the suggestions Paul.

When I heard about Ghost Town Barber in the pass around box, I was hoping to get to try it. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance. I just might have to pick some up while I am there.

If you do, as Montgomery Hall would say, "Let's Make A Deal!" :)

I like Ghost Town Barber quite a bit. It's definitely worth a try.
I must get back to Manhattan to check this place out. Have fun!

I recommend you try it! CF makes some darn good soap, and Ghost Town Barber is an intriguing scent.

I had Sherlock and Midnight Stag aftershaves, but at the wrong time of year(IMO)...the dead heat of summer. I knew right away I'd like them better in wintertime. MS resembled my grandfather's attic. (He died in 1982, but the house still stands).

I live about 3 hours north of NYC in Western Mass. My wife and I will be heading down to Queens in a few weeks to meet with some of her relatives. I'm definitely going to be stopping in when I can break off and get some free time. I've never been, but always wanted to go.

Sadly, my go-to store closed down a few years ago in Cambridge, MA.

Colonial Drug - an awesome shave shop that just had about everything I could think of. Although, from the looks of it, Pasteur's may have a bigger selection.

Haha limit yourself to 5 soaps... Good luck! Never been to a shave shop where you can actually smell a soap before purchasing. It sounds like it is going to be a blast. I just purchased Night Music and love the way it smells. Many cannot stand it, but it is one of my favorite scents. Enjoy yourself and let us know what you end up getting!

I know B&M on some of their jars has a tape seal but not all of them had it. Also, SV is just a slip on lid on a cardboard box. I think in these cases I might be able to get a sniff... until someone says to stop :)

    Couldn't hurt to try.
