Posted my story in the Welcome section for anyone interested. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threa...for-info-on-recent-straight-collection.57192/ Long story short in the past several months got into wet shaving. Hobby has slowly been building but really hit full throttle this week when I received my late grandfathers Razor collection after having a conversation about my new interest. Honestly, the collection has been a bit overwhelming so far. I have been reading the forums and conversations to try and figure out what I have but I thought that posting the collection would help accelerate the process as I am sure you guys wouldn't mind seeing the collection and could help me work through what I have. I would ultimately like to start shaving with straights slowly and build the skill to be able to do it consistently as a kind of way to honor my grandfather. Right now I am shaving with a Rockwell 6s and working on my lather technique. I will post individual picks of the razors as well as I am sure a closer look would be helpful.
Here is a list of the Razor’s from the best of my understanding. Information would be welcome. I did not realize those old timers had "collections". This is fairly rare. I have been to dozens of personal estate sales and I have never seen this many straights in a personal collection aside from seven day sets and some odds and ends. Was he a barber?
My understanding is that he and my grandmother, while traveling, would go to antique stores and various places and he would collect straight razors as a way to have something to examine and enjoy while my grandmother was looking at other stuff.
You hit the jackpot in more ways then one! All well known brands, and they all look in great condition. You really need to learn to shave with these to really understand the gift you have. Your grandpa was a man before his time. He'd fit right in here
