I've never seen those before but I like them a lot. If I get into straights, one of those will be on my Christmas list for sure.
their a bit more than i'd like to pay however having my first little girl in sept. just might treat myself for the occasion
Good solid reputation now, Heavy grinds, and they hold a long edge, they can be a bit persnickity about the hones you use on them but once they are dialed in they shave very smooth
I have one, a 6/8 square point. It's an excellent razor but I seem to prefer vintage because that's what I reach for most often.
Very nice! I haven't really seen anyone selling new 7/8 razors. Not that I've been looking that hard but it seems like mostly they're 5/8 and an occasional 6/8. I'm going to dip my toe in the straight waters with an inexpensive vintage but if I like it, I may get one of these. I really like the utilitarian, solid look. Thanks for pointing them out.
my pleasure Brian, something about the larger blades i find very attractive. i didn't think much of them because of how plain and expensive they are, once i took a better look at them they are really beautiful. I like that scales are all one piece, deer skin case and box,& scales are interchangeable. they seem to be a cut above their competitors.
To be fair and put things in perspective, and this is just off the top of my head some New razor makers, and there are probably some I am forgetting TI makes some 7/8's Wacker of course 7/8 and 8/8 Revisor also 7/8 and 8/8 Ralf Aust has larger sizes Timor too Then getting into Customs you can get any size you want..
I have a 6/8 square point satin, with Rosewood scales. It's one hunk 'o steel for sure. Up in my top three for now. Begging for a set of ebony scales..
she's a beaut! I was sad to see they don't sell ebony scales, I agree ebony is the way to go. Ty for sharing Mike
I love that this has a Hello Kitty clock and Jack O Lantern pencil in the pic...Like an experiment in contrasts. Looks like I will be joining the ranks of those using the straights in the next few months...I picked up a couple pretty aged W & B blades for about $40 combined that I will be sending to Glen possibly as early as next week. Really excited to check em out!
Not a great picture (has oil on the surface), but here is my 7/8" Square Point Polished razor: And I must add that the customer support for Hart Steel razors is AWESOME. They definitely stand behind their razors, even if you buy them in the used market! Will
