Harvesting the Omega Professional Boar Knot I got this new Omega Professional boar in the mail today. I ordered it to be a donor knot. It was a beautiful day outside today, so I took advantage of it to harvest this knot and set it in my new JR #122 handle. I used a hack saw to saw it in half and then cut through opposite sides of the knot. Then, I cut both sides of the knot on the sleeve. After I freed the knot, I used my Dremel and shaped the plug so it would fit into my newest brush handle, the JR #122, a RS 400 style handle. Here it is with a dry fit in the JR #122.
Nice job on the brush. I used the same method, but just ground a hole in the base with a dremel and pushed the knot out.
I did a 10066 that way too. Just drilled a hole in the bottom, stuck a blunted 16 penny nail in and gave it a quick rap with a hammer. It popped right out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It's been a while, but if I remember correctly I used a straight blade screwdriver on the sleeve and gave it a quick tap with a hammer.
In case anyone is wondering, on the Omega 10066 knot handle, and I assume this one as well, they are a very strong handle. Strong enough that if you put it on a very firm surface and hit it with a 5 pound sledge hammer, it will not break. It may however, shoot forward like a rocket and put a dent in a garage door. Hacksaw is much better bet.
