Supposedly a Gillette Bulldog military set circa 1918. The case has a frame that holds the razor and blade cases, it also swings out when the case is stood up. I suspect it was a set for a medical officer due to the lack of a liner so the whole thing could be sterilized. Or possibly for use in the field. Can anyone confirm?
I posted it a while back on another forum but I can't recall if he chimed in on it. There was a some debate about why it doesn't have a lining.
That also caught my eye, but considering that it's in great shape and if it had any lining, I think that it would still be there.
There is no evidence of a previous lining. The frame couldn't rotate out with one I suspect as there is very little extra room. I can't find any pics of that configuration anywhere. It could have been a special order with limited numbers made. I posted this a while back and someone on another forum linked a pic but now I can't find it.
Now I remember when I received that one it had a single ring in it. The date code showed it wasn't the proper razor and Alex2363 found a pic in the Waits Compendium page 459. It's nickel plated. I had a spare Bulldog to put in there to complete it. Thanks TobyC for the reminder.
