    Hey guys,

After a decade or so of sub par lazy shaving every couple days with cartridge razors I decided to have some self respect and start to enjoy the experience. The journey started with a spur of the moment purchase of a Van Der Hagen DE and random shaving cream from Target and after realizing I was onto something escalated to the real shave soaps and a Rockwell 6s DE. I have moved from shaving being a necessity that I tried to get out of the way in the shower to an experience to be looked forward to.

Fast forward several months to a conversation with my mother and she reminded me that my Grandfather had collected Straight Razors in the last couple decades of his life. My grandfather has since passed away over a decade ago but my grandmother still lives a short journey away in Southwest VA. It was several weeks before I was able to make it down there not really knowing what I would find. Turns out the collection was 40 razors strong and had been in a glass case in the living room all this time. I was not old enough to really respect the collection or have a conversation with my grandfather before he passed away but this seems like a cool way to honor his memory.

My grandmother had no use for the razors and insisted that I take whatever I would like. Where that leaves me is a bit overwhelmed with what has fallen into my lap. I have over the last couple days been doing research on the different makes and history of razors and have started to understand a bit about what I have. I obviously am not really trying to get valuations for razors as these are all sentimental razors but I am slowly trying to figure out which razors are interesting or for different reasons and which ones may be good candidates to restore and with a little bit of practice and reading move from DE shaving to straights.

So what I'm asking for is advice now. Should I start a post in the straight razor section with a picture of the collection and ask for more information? I am unsure of what is usually done around here. I expect nobody would be too sad to examine a collection of razors.

Thanks for any advice you have, I have already learned a ton from different posts on this forum over that past 24 hours or so.

High their, @B Wade I'm glad you decided to join us. Very nice story. I and I am sure others would love to see what you have. So, start a thread and post away. I've been doing this seriously for about five years now and have just started shaving with straights on the weekend since last February.
