Good Evening. My mother found these when cleaning out the attic of my grandfathers old house. He died about ten years ago, but I reckon these have been tucked away for a lot longer than that. Does anybody know what kind of razors these are? Thanks
Left early Super Speed Right Ball End Tech Both very good razors. Even better coming from your grandfather!
Thank you, appreciate it. I have no idea what you just, but I guess the guess the question was not directed at me What is the best way to clean these two? According to the mother, they have been scrubbed pretty good, but I guess some disinfectant would be prudent here
A 10 minute soak in Scrubbing Bubbles (a foaming bathroom cleaner), then scrub with soft toothbrush. Scrubbing Bubbles: 1 - Eats soap scum B - Disinfects Third - Leaves the razor nice and shiny
I'm no expert on these so someone will correct me if wrong. The British/Euro Super Speeds were called Rockets and sometimes Parat (depending on the country, which I think also means 'rocket') and by design had a gap between the handle and the knob. American S.S. can get something that looks like that gap if the crimp above the knob weakens, allowing the shaft the knob is attached to to drop partway out the handle. If that's what it is, it's a simple 20 second fix, but yeah, it looks Rocket-ish. Which is cool.
Didn't even think England. But after you mentioned Rocket I took a closer look and indeed the Tech is stamped England.
That's why I made note it is a foaming bathroom cleaner. I'm sure you can find something similar in your stores.
Well that's it then. He's probably the proud new owner of a family heirloom Rocket and Tech! Can't beat that.
Yep. Note the two on the left...U.S. issue is first, yours is 2nd. Now that I've cleaned my glasses I notice yours has no crimp at all. Congrats on the Rocket and the Tech.
Thank you Gentlemen, your assistance has been very valuable. A quick youtube search gave me an idea of what a foaming cleaner is. We do have a similar product, it was the foaming wording that confused me. Anyway, I will clean it up and hopefully get it clean and shave ready.
Unless I just made it up, I think the British version is called Scouring Froth. Same bubble guy mascot, except he has a monocle. Classier product.
