@ColtJustice, glad you decided to join us here at TSD. Your braver than I am, I haven't heard nice things regarding Merkur blades. Merkur razors are great, but the blades are usually thought of the opposite end of spectrum. Some blades I found great, (gentle, but effective) are Derby Premium and Nacets. I plan giving 50 to each of my boys for Christmas. All that said if your happy with them, that great, I only brought it up because you mentioned getting nicks and Merkur blades.
to TSD @ColtJustice I hope you enjoy it here. Have you tried a blade sample pack? Many times changing to a different blade can correct nicking problems. Also pay mind to your technique, correct technique is important.

@ColtJustice welcome to the Den from Central NJ. When you're ready to branch out in the blade area head on over to the 30 Day Rule/Focus thread. Not only will you get some good advice, but your technique will improve. In your op you said you were getting nicked up. Do a couple 30 Day Rule or Focus and I'm willing to bet that nonsense will stop. Enjoy your shaves.
Oh, yes, that's me. I was thinking three words for MDS. lol I don't get on there as much as I used to.
The blades came with the razor, and I didn't know another good brand to buy, so just stuck with those. I'm currently looking for other blades to try.
