I'm new to this art of wet shaving and I've been reading alot about warm water shaving vs cold water, any thoughts?
Many like cold water. I don't. Makes for an uncomfortable shave, for me. The only way you'll know if you like it and it works for you is to try it.
I prefer the hot water shave... Although the apartment I'm in for the next couple weeks really doesn't have hot water.... More like mild-medium warm water most of the time. I get just as good of shave either way
Not ice water, just cold water from the cold water side of the spigot. Saves time, water, and money. Plus it is refreshing and helps prevent irritation.
Hot/warm water for me. I've tried the cold water shaves and it just isn't as comfortable. Check back in July and August when we really warm up and I may change my tune.
I started with hot water and loved it but since I routinely do 3 passes, I went a CWS to prevent the after shave irritation. If you are a one or two pass guy and do not have sensitive skin you may be able to use warm or hot. But if you have sensitive skin you may be prone to irritation and cold water helps minimize the inflammation and later irritation. One way to look at it. Would you put warm or hot water of a sprained ankle? It's a similar situation IMV. Start with hot and see what happens.
Cold water shave is nice! Most of the time I shave in the shower with the water running and a hand mirror that has been hung on the wall. Then it's hot water
I am hot shave cold rinse shaver. In the winer or when I feel like it I will use my kettle and scuttle for some really hot lather. In the summer or after a rough shave I will finish by rubbing ice on my face. I tried cold shaving but it didn't work for me. Dry it different ways and find out what works for you.
It's to each their own. But for me it's a hot washcloth soak, cold rinse winter or summer. I'll soak my brush and razor in warm water. Always look forward to my morning shave
Awesome looks like both are good methods, I have to say, the hot towel sounds good with a splash of cold water to finish
Hot water always, unless it's a particularly hot and dry morning, in which case a cool shave is called for. Same approach as I'd use for determining the temperature of my shower.
