I picked up this empty House of Croydon Shaving Soap bowl at an estate sale this past weekend. My research has found very little about the House of Croydon. Anyone have information about this brand, when it was making soaps, or about this bowl in general? It was empty when I purchased it, with no noticeable lingering scent by which I could tell what soap it housed. Thanks!
From Shave My Face. Not a lot of help, but it's all I can find out...... "Wrisley's was an old firm/soapworks located in Chicago. They produced bath soaps, gentlemens toilet articles i.e. talc, shave soaps, colognes & after shaves ,usually, in box sets. Est. in 1862, they might of folded in the early 1970s. "House of Croydon" was based in New York City ,and everthing mentiond about Wrisley's, also applies to them. They may have been 'absorbed' into something else or went defunct a bit earlier than Wrisley."
I don't know the dimensions of your new bowl but its shape reveals that a DR Harris shaving soap puck might fit, and look good in there to boot.
