Many guys say that stretching the skin helps. That is, pull your skin a little to the right of the adam's apple & shave it. Then pull to the left & shave that side.

Swallow and hold: Swallow so your Adam's Apple goes down, then hold that - as if holding your breath - for a few seconds, which should be long enough to scrape the razor over the area.

OK, I don't acutally do that (as I do not have an adams apple) but I have read that it works for guys.

What Sara mentioned works well, also tilting your head down while while stretching helps lower the skin for easier access. Turning your head to one side or the other also help pull it taut.

I risk a banning for say this but for me there is one razor that has no problem with it: the Fusion ProGlide. Trac II does well there, too. It just takes an extra pass or two with DE or SE to get it smooth no matter how I stretch it. I denounce myself.

Welcome aboard.:signs046: I tilt my head back place my thumb and first finger at the bottom of my neck, stretch to the left and right and shave. Works for me, however, I'm sure everyone has a method that works for them. You will hear it many time, on many subjects at TSD you kind of have to see what works for you. You couldn't be in a better place to get friendly advice.

Simply, stretching and light touch ATG. The old carts made it much worse.

I agree that stretching the skin and especially in that area is a big help. Another one that works for me in that area and also on the chin is a very light touch. Using as light of strokes as possible is something I tend to forget occasionally. Short strokes repeated also work. Learning all this takes time lol

Get fat, so your adam's apple doesn't protrude, haha. Skin stretching :).

I second Jasman's suggestion on the 'swallow and hold—then shave' technique.
No second hand is required, (or if you feel the need to stretch, you can still do that) and I've found it equally effective no matter the razor type, be it DE razor or straight razor.
