I pretty much use your method (bowl lather) for creams, but for soaps I seem to prefer face lathering for whatever reason.
Cool instructions mate! My creams come in tubs and I'm just starting to use soaps which take a little longer to create the lather but is rather satisfying to achieve a good batch. I use a Balti Dish to whisk mine up in! It cost me £1, comes with 2 handles (as they do) is a stainless finish (probably coated) does the job really well.
you know, if you take that pad to your face with enough enthusiasm you might not even need a blade....
different creams have different lather? how do you know which cream is good for you and lather,I face lather with little results.
I can not make lather with shave cream, no matter what I do on face , mixing on my hand. I do not have a propper shave mug-bowl. Do i need different cream or a proper mug?
What is a "proper" mug? Really any bowl, latte mug or soup/chowder mug will work. Just go to your kitchen and pick something. If you decide the size isn't to your liking, try something else. Take a look at yard sales or thrift stores. No need to spend more than a buck for a lather bowl.
Some time has passed since I last posted in this thread. Bowl lathering does take a little longer to get decent at but I bowl & face lather about equally, doesn't matter if it's a cream or a soap.
So you say to swirl and pump - I've heard pumping is hard on the brush, breaks bristles, etc. I don't want to ruin my brush, but I bought it to use, not to look at... thoughts?
I swirl clockwise and counterclockwise and apply varying amounts of pressure according to the type of lather I want and amount of water used. I usually prefer my lather thick and creamy some may like it frothy or foamy, experimentation is key. YMMV
