    Last week it was back to school commercials.
    This week I've seen commercials for the new 2018 vehicles.
    Next week we'll start seeing Christmas commercials!
    Sheesh! but time sure flys!!!

    So how's your day?

    Oh, how this could open a can of worms. I have three young adult children, and one in high school. Every day is an adventure, some good, some an absolute mess. However, a couple things I have learned is that there is one much greater and smarter than me in control, and that if one day seems crazy, wait 24 hours and it will likely be very different. Another thing I have learned is that the older I get, the faster life seems to go.

    I coach High School football and we started back up yesterday. And it means College football is just around the corner.I love this time of year for that reason. But I also hate this time of year because that means summer is almost over.

    I was woken up to the sound of a freight train, after a few seconds I realized that the sound was coming from me. :transport022:
    My asthma was in full swing, I ended up getting up and taking my asthma medication, after a quick Google search I found that we are in a Spare the air day.
    Not good, I'll be laying low today.

    @Eeyore @macaronus and general populace. ;)

    You all may recall that I started teaching myself Dutch a little over a year ago. Today, I had my first ever real Dutch conversation over skype which happened to be with my friend, the Limecat. I've been nervously putting this off forever, but now on vacation, had no excuses left and I really wanted to finally give it a try. Well.... I found out that I totally choked on having something to say. BUT, what I did say was at least understandable. Limecat says that I have a heavy German accent. But, I'm not surprised. I also slightly mispronounced a few things due to mistakes in the duolingo and google voices. I found that I really had to listen to him and had to ask him to repeat and slow down. but, that doesn't surprise me since I have very little speaking and listening practice. My reading comprehension continues to improve ... my main issue being vocabulary. If I had to guess, I'd say my comprehension might be somewhere around middle school level, but that's only a guess. I'd love to be able to test it more exactly, but can't seem to find a way to do so.

    All-in-all, I will be better prepared next time (I need a script!) and the learning continues. But, I'm happy with myself for my progress thus far... doubly so since I'm self-taught via book and computer and have had very little real world practice/use.

    @richgem goed gedaan!

    Er zijn luisterboeken in het Nederlands die je kunt downloaden. Die helpen denk ik wel bij je uitspraak. En vergeet niet dat Kader Abdolah Nederlands leerde door Annie M.G. Schmidt te lezen (en misschien ook wel te luisteren)

    For who doesn't know Annie M.G. Schmidt; she is the writer of "Jip en Janneke", a series of famous Dutch children's books.

    Just the one. But if it wasn't for that one, the NFL as it is today would not be.
