If you had the following seven GEM razors how would you arrange them for a 7 day rotation? 7 Days is based on 7 good shaves from one blade. 1912 Feather Weight Micromatic Clog Pruf Contour 1 Micromatic Bullet Tip Micromatic Open Comb and an Ever Ready 1924 or the above GEM razors with any or all of these to arrive at 7 razors. Schick Type E Schick L Schick Adjustable. Can you give a brief reason for your preferred rotation? Steve
I would do them in chronological order: 1912 Ever Ready 1924 Micromatic Open Comb Micromatic Clog Pruf Micromatic Bullet Tip Feather Weight Schick Adjustable The Contour is the only one I do not have, so I would end up with the Schick adjustable.
Steve's a machine — a fantastic, shave-o-matic, razor fanatic. He is one of my TSD heros and I call myself a Swardenite, but I could never achieve his dedication and discipline. It's superhuman! (Steve, I still love you, man!) I have mixed emotions about blade-swapping, so would go back and forth between "one blade in one razor until done" and "smorgasbord." During my "smorgasbord" phase, I would likely go chronological or try to arrange in order of aggressiveness. For the blade swapping phase I'd try to save the best for last and put my favorite shaver on a Friday. GEMs on weekdays and injectors on weekends? Maybe alternate GEM-injector by week. OH-oh!... use them based on weight! Lightest to heaviest. Honestly, I'd twiddle all of these and keep changing them up. I would also buy more razors. You definitely need a Schick J1! It's my current injector fave. Fun thread!
Personally, I think I would take @Jayaruh 's advice and place them in chronological order. Then, I would completely ignore the order I had placed them in and use the one I chose at random.
Ok, I will answer my own hyperthetical. My order is based on how I believe, from material I've read people report on the type of shaves from particular razors as the blade ages. Feather Weight Contour 1 Micromatic Bullet Tip 1912 Micromatic Clog Pruf Ever Ready 1924 Micromatic Open Comb or Feather Weight Schick L Micromatic Bullet Tip 1912 Schick Type E Ever Ready 1924 Micromatic Open Comb Steve
Nah. The heads are about identical but I just prefer the heft of the G. That's really about the only difference.
I'm with Steve. Pick one and shave, at the end of the week you well have used all seven anyway. As far as blade swamping, it's not for me. Chances are you'll cut your finger handling the blade this often.
