Ok, I have a Gold, Open Comb, TTO, Gillette. It has a swirl pattern up the handle, kind of like the swirls on a barber pole. I can't see/locate a date code. I know I've seen pictures of a similar razor, but after searching and searching, and too many blurry Ebay pictures :angry037, I'm asking the experts directly. I'll try and take pictures, if anyone needs them to help with the IDing process. Edit- I just noticed the patent numbers written around the handle, one just above the twist to open knob, and the other near the head of the razor but on the handle. I don't think I've ever seen that. But they aren't serial numbers, just patent numbers.
JoAnna, See if you can find your razor here at Mr Razor's site. The site doesn't work that well (for me) using Firefox, so I open it up with Internet Explorer.
Thanks, John! Yeah, it looks like an Aristocrat, Made in the USA. So it should have a date code somewhere? My eyes are bad. :ashamed001
I'll see about taking some pics, but I am pretty sur it is an Aristocrat. I mean what else could it be?
JoAnna, all of this uncertainty can be very stressful and bad for one's health. I really think you'd be better off if you just send the darned thing to me. And please, no need to thank me. That what friends are for. :angelic007
How come all the Aristocrats on Ebay right now don't have the swirl pattern on the handle? Cause they're later models?
Yes. What you are most likely seeing are the 40's style solid guard bar versions. They all had vertical knurling. The 30's style open combs had the "swirl" knurled handles.
