I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Palmolive Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #224 synthetic brush. I did the two passes with the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher and vintage Gem Jr. blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Every time I use a GEM blade razor It always makes me wonder why do I have any other razors. Today was not an exception. Absolutely wonderful shave, super close, zero irritation and very comfortable. It's like these razors and blades were created for me. The only problem with the Heljestrand it's the size of the lather catcher that makes it a bit cumbersome using on the moustache area.

This first use of Mike's was a great one too. Easy to lather and resulting in a pretty slick, dense and with great post properties. I wish the scent was a bit more assertive but it's a good citric powdery scent nonetheless.

As it is Menthol Monday I went with some C.O. Bigelow and the big 28mm Faux Finest from FS. A three pass shave left me with an okay shave for a Monday. That's alright though as the Valet and I will be getting to know one another better over the course of the month. Finished the shave off with some Clubman AS and I am ready for the start of the work week.

If V2 is as good as this, it is worth looking at if you are in UK. I actually prefer it to my Brass General.

Today's shave was as smooth as yesterday was rough. I think it was the blade that need to be broke in a bit. You also get that in other blades as well, some SE and Injector blades come to mind. After three passes I am left with a good shave and I am happy with it. Not the closest shave I have had but a smooth one all the same. On the plus side, it was better than yesterday’s offering.

1912 today for a good shave. Two tiny weepers on my chin area but those cleared up with the final rinse. Overall good results. Enjoy your day!

What an excellent way to start my birthday! These Heljestrand blades treated me wonderfully and gave me a close, smooth uneventful shave with ease. I was a bit cautious on the first pass, but on the second and last pass I was more confident and I could navigate the face with ease. A commentary on the feel of these blades: love it! It's always present the blade, it's the razor that I own where the blade feel is very, very present, but as it is very sharp the experience was smooth nonetheless. Even more so than with a modern GEM razor that I tried last shave.

The B&M Bay Rum was the first Bay Rum that I tried and i fell in love with it as soon as I opened the can. A very spicy, hot and pungent fragrance, that stayed for the whole duration of the shave. Very easy to lather, a dense, slick and hydrated lather galore! Top quality.

My compliments to each and everyone of you, and wish you a day at least as good as mine!
