I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Palmolive Shave Cream face-lathered well with the Oscar11 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher Razor with an Original Gem Cutlery SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Black Hawk today for a great shave. This is a fun razor to use especially when mowing down more than a day's growth as I did today. Quite enjoyable. Have a great day!

    Semogue 1305
    B&M reserve fern soap
    Victoria and Margaret AS toner
    Blacktie Razor ASB casino royale

First use of the reserve base and I definitely loaded too heavy! 20 seconds of heavy loading needs to be 15 seconds of light loading. I still managed a great shave with 3 passes from the G8.

Over at TOST this past week we did a Shave Stick Week where we just used shave sticks. I finished off the Shaving Stick week with Turkey's gift to the shaving world "ARKO"!!! I also used another razor that has not been used in awhile a Superior Bar Razor. I did a three pass shave that left me with a BBS shave. Thank you to the two enablers that turned me on to the LC razors. You know who you are.

Does anyone here have an extra stropping handle like Jayaruh's that they'd be willing to sell? I have a few Nos blades I'd like to try touching up and I can't afford to buy a lather catcher right now to get one. TIA

Try looking on eBay for an Ever Ready Autostropping Machine. I was watching one that ended today that went for just under $10. The draw back than is you need a strop to fit it.

I know that folks get lots of work out of this blade, but I am thinking it is pulling a bit for me. Did however end up with a pretty decent Shave.

I do believe it will. I had a new strop made for my Valet Autostrop Razor and that is the strop I use on my ER Stropping Machine.

I traded Brush II for some lightly used Sharp Dressed Man SS & AS. The previous owner said that the "FO's" in the soap did not agree with his skin. After using it this morning I can understand what he said. This must have been a really rich batch of soap. It has left my face very tingly a lot like a menthol soap would. I love the smell of the soap though. Thank you @pisces_0 I hope the brush brings you years of great use.

Now on to the shave. I have had a very limited exposure to Stirling but all of the stuff I have tried up to this point has been very good and on par with what everybody else has to say about them. It lathered very easy and was able to get a three pass shave that left me with a BBS on a 7 shave old blade. It will be fun to see if I will be able to extend the life of this blade as I have with some of the other CS blades I've tried by stropping the blade.

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Personna injector
    Brush: Jayaruh boar
    Lather: C.O. Bigelow cream
Post: Witch hazel, Barbasol Brisk aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Personna injector performed nicely this morning. It's very mild but I didn't need much after a really close shave yesterday. This all worked together very well.

    Have a great day!

Did a three pass face shave using:
1912 Ever Ready Gem (10th use)
    Stainless GEM Blade
    Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Omega Boar 20106
    Gentleman Jon's Alum
    Stirling Unscented Glacial

Felt so much more comfortable than any DE blade to date. Even on it's 10th use! Got myself a nice shave and a real stiff mentholated freeze on my face right now. Ahhhh...bliss.

    Pre-Shave: Hot Shower
    Brush: 25mm Synthetic, Maseto Shaving(MS)

    Blade: Red Devil(scrapper blade) (15)

I got this 1924 Shovelhead in the mail yesterday. After a soak and scrub in some Scrubbing Bubbles last night I wanted to use it for this mornings shave. I paired it with the Red Devil blade I had in my 1914 as I was getting good results from that pairing. Mistake!

The 1924 and 1914 are very different razors with different geometry and angles of attack. Now with the '14 I get a very smooth, close shave from the Red Devil blade. A shave that I enjoy and look forward to in the mornings. This mornings shave was close, hell, after three passes I was left with a DF-BBS shave. It was not however smooth. One or a multiple of a couple of different things could have made this mornings shave turned south.

    1) I was using a blade not intended to shave with.
    2) The 1924 Shovelhead is a more aggressive razor than the 1914.
    3) I have not learned the proper angle needed to shave with the 1924.

Due to all of the reasons listed above I will try to shave with this razor again tomorrow morning but using a newer PAL blade and send the Red Devil back to the razor whence it came.
