This early Sunday morning started out on a really fine note, tried out my new GEM MicroMatic bullet tip and it was a really nice shave. I am really getting hooked on these vintage GEM's

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the B-400 badger brush. I did two passes with the Henckels Rapide Razor with a Henckels wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Vanilla AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Great to hear! Most consider the Micro Matics to be sub par in the SE world. I am not one of those peoples. I find they are veddy nice indeed. Let me know if you want to try anything else. I have a little of this and that around!

I was skeptical of the micromatic bullet tip until I picked one up last year.

The razor is mild, but not too mild, and provides excellent shaves. The TTO mechanism is a real wonder too. This razor is a real work of art.

I could use this razor every day and be happy.

"Micromatic" and "sub-par" ought never be uttered in the same sentence.

MMOC and Clog Pruf produce WONDERFUL results.

Your right all the way around. One of the three is bound to work no matter how you like your shaves to feel. Work of art is perfect for them.

Almost a typical Sunday shave. I decided to take a walk on the dangerous side and work on learning to use a Rolls

    MWF
    Vintage Simpson brush
Rolls Razor (blade honed by gssixgun)
    Steve Woodhead Scuttle
Bath and Body Ocean for Men 2-n-1 Lotion

Overall not a bad shave. Learning the Rolls will take longer than learning straights for me. Hopefully not as much blood. :signs081:

I do wish the Rolls handle was a larger diameter. I've gotten spoiled by 14mm & 15mm DE handles.

    I have caught the bug!!!!
I am circling the drain, tonights shave will be with my one and only SE, and I hope, no scratch that, PRAY, that it goes better than the first time I tried to use it. It was a bloodbath.
I expect it will, as my prep and technique has much improved, but I am still venturing into semi uncharted waters here...... But like I always say, "Whats the worst that can happen?"

take it slow, use little or no pressure on the blade and you will do just fine.

Just like @DLP said. Easy pressure and slow. The valet can be aggressive. Oh and pics or it didn't happen.

I have played with a rolls yet. I might see if the blade on mine will strop good enough to play with.

It will not be with the Valet, as I dont want to try and snip the blades. I have a GEM, that I will be using, and those require no snipping, so while I may bleed from my face, I will be able to use normal procedures to stop the blood loss.
If I try to snip the blades for the Valet, I wouldnt have any way to stop the bleeding on my face, since my fingers would be too bloody to apply direct pressure.
