Hi guys, the gentlemen on another forum were saying that there is no way to protect an injector, whilst travelling.... Well, what do you think of my prototype.... Still drying out,and stretching the leather with Chicago Screws. Will replace those with 10mm HD press studs, when it has been stained, polished, and the edges treated. Will leave the inside untreated,so it will take care of any moisture from the razor. Thoughts???
Looks great and I can't imagine better protection! Does it work with the E and G style heads as well? Now, if there were just a way to get injectors past TSA while a blade is loaded... Karl
I only have the HydroMagic,so all others would be a custom job,I suppose you could leave the blade loaded,as long as it isnt hand luggage?,I have not travelled for years,so couldnt tell you I'm afraid!.
No,those ones are Chicago Screws,I will replace those with some HD 10mm antique brass 'snaps' when all the rest of the work is done....
Thanks for the positive input guys!,means a lot!. Please be aware, this is a prototype, put together with what I have sitting around,so it wont be as polished as the end product....LOL!.
Wouldn't the real simple solution be to make a bunch of small reusable 'fake'/dummy injector blades. Maybe out of plastic (I can't recall if the vintage injectors actually came with one in the head) and when you head out on your trip you slide one of these dummy blades into it? Bonus: use it when you want to pop a blade into another razor and leave the dummy you inserted in it to prevent accidents from forgetting there's a blade in it. I shall call these the 'D-Blades' (for Dummy blades) and a ten pack will be $2.99
Nice. As to those who say there's no way to protect an injector while traveling - idiots. Just wrap it in a handkerchief or t-shirt. I do like that cover, though.
Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!.The original idea,is to protect a fresh blade. When I said no way to protect it,I meant in a proper, designed for the job, fashion!.If you wanted too,use a bog roll, taped up at each end.....But I know what I would prefer!.... It has now been stained, waterproofed, and polished.Just got to wait for the press studs now...
Very creative. Definitely a need for a cover like this. I can see fancy tooling in the future on there also. I'm not sure if the size and shape are the same or not. But your more than welcome to borrow this Schick for sizing other models if this one has different dimensions.
