If you have access to a sonic cleaner then use some dish soap in hot water and run the sonic cleaner through a couple cycles. Followup with a tooth brush and see what you have. Probably should disinfect it as well. 30 minutes soaking in alcohol will do. The rubbing kind - not the drinking kind. If it looks ok - lube it with a Q tip dipped in mineral oil. Thats what I did to my Fatboy - now I use it all the time. I also polished it with a bit of silver polish.
