1967 Gillette tech 3 piece with extra handle and new blade for 27.97. I like the extra handle and and I know brand is good.
I would try to find a pre-1950's Gilletre razor ... better materials, in my opinion. (but I don't know too much about Gillette history, compared to many on this forum!)
Yep, that's a bit expensive. You probably want a Fat Handle Tech from the late 40's. Should be easy to find and cheaper. Should be under $20 is my guess. You may find one that's a bit grimey looking, but most clean up nicely with Scrubbing Bubbles and a toothbrush. I even use a brass brush lightly to really clean them up.
Have you looked at the Lady Gillette Razors ? I hear they shave very well and have a slightly longer handle.
Good suggestion - and how about the Feather Popular as a modern equivalent? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Referred to as "User Grade", a scuffed, slightly worn, unbroken vintage razor can be had for as little as five bucks. Not so much on ebay and related sites. For the bargains on vintage gear apply patience, time, and a little gasoline money. Find all the antique and thrift stores in your area. When you visit talk to the owners or hired help. Sometimes they keep the sharp things tucked away from little hands. While having conversation, ask if they keep a list of Wanted Items. I do this and occasionally get a call when new gear hits a shop. Some shops recognize me when I visit now - I'm that Razor Guy.
There is right now a NCD Gillette tech for $8.99 with a $3 shipping for buy it now on eBay. It looks good to me.
I just picked up a cased Lady Gillette for my wife. I paid a premium for the case with blades and card stock, but it still was under $50. I watched a lot of very nice uncased Lady Gillettes go for $20 to $25 to gauge the going rate. If your price point is in this range, I'm sure they are to be had with very little patience required. Just keep an eye on the shipping costs to stay within your range. Set a limit and stay disciplined. I find best deals can be had when there are a number of similar auctions going on. Let the big spenders have at it and pick one up when the auction ends on off days or late/early hours. Good luck.
I paid 10 bucks each for my 2 lady Gillette razors. The blue is mint and the rare Pink one in great condition.
Nice !!!! I have found that the antique stores are the way to go for the best deals. I'm going to an estate sale at 8am in the morning and the local antique store said they had quite a bit of vintage shaving stuff for sale I'll report back tomorrow
Hey SB another razor (I own) I think you should consider is a Schick Krona. There are very reasonably priced and available, give a great smooth Gillette like shave, and have a little longer handle on them - similar to the Lady Gillette. I think most out there would vouch for it.
